Humana Data Center - LDC
Louisville, Kentucky
Humana Inc., founded in 1961 in Louisville, Kentucky, is a Fortune 100 company that markets and administers health insurance. With a customer base of over 11.5 million in the United States, the company is the largest (by revenues) Fortune 100 company headquartered in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Kerr-Greulich has worked with and supported Humana's efforts for many years.
Kerr-Greulich was brought in to design a new 30,000 square foot raised access floor data center with 40,000 square feet of support and Office Space which serves as the Corporate Data Center Facility.
The electrical distribution system consists of two 4000 amp 277/480 volt electrical services, each served by redundant utility services and service transformers.
The entire facility is provided emergency backup power through a paralleling switchgear that connects three (3) 2,250 KW diesel generator sets, each with a 10,000 gallon sub-base fuel tank.
The paralleling switchgear has been designed to allow for a fourth 2,250 KW generator to be added in the future to support the long term growth of the facility.
The critical power system supporting the process load is configured as a dual redundant distribution system supported by four (4) 1000 kva UPS systems providing for an uninterrupted redundant capacity of 2000 kva.
The infrastructure is designed to provide an additional dual redundant UPS system that would provide additional capacity of 1000 kva.
HVAC in the data center is provided by the use of air-to-air CRAC units distributed around the raised floor area.
