Northeast Christian Church
Louisville, Kentucky

Northeast Christian Church provides a ministry based on helping people to discover an abundant life. They worked hard to develop their new 2000 seat auditorium, leaving no stone unturned in their efforts to be responsible stewards of the funds pledged. Kerr-Greulich provided the MEP design, working closely with the architect to meet the needs and desires of the congregation.

Some highlights of Kerr-Greulich's design include:
  • Flexible sprinkler head drops.
  • CPVC and PEX domestic water piping with distribution manifolds, resulting in cost savings and ease of installation.
  • Interior and exterior lighting control using a variety of methods including occupancy sensors, control panels, contactors and override switches to comply with automatic lighting shutoff requirements.
  • Color changing LED's that uplights canvas canopy giving luminescent visual interest to Main Street Drive.
  • Exterior lighting 62% more efficient than required by IECC 2006.
  • Intricate design for re-purposed building. HVAC duct design included exposed spiral pipe, fabric duct, and thermodynamic diffusers. In some cases, exposed rectangular duct was designed to be wrapped in fabric duct for consistent appearance.
  • Thermodynamic diffusers provided more control where difficult existing structural conditions did not permit thermostat control in all areas.
  • The Worship Center HVAC design included displacement ventilation above the open ceiling, eliminating the cost of visible diffusers and branch ductwork.
  • Under stage return air complimented the demand control ventilation and is incorporated into the architecture without the use of return grilles.
