Norton Healthcare - Disaster Recovery Data Center
Louisville, Kentucky
Norton Healthcare is Kentucky's largest healthcare system with more than 40 locations in and around Louisville, Kentucky. Founded in 1886, Norton's current major products include pediatrics; women's services; orthopedics; cardiac care; stroke care; advanced surgical services; cancer diagnosis, prevention, and treatment; and a neurospine center.
Kerr-Greulich provided the MEP design for a 17,000 square foot Disaster Recovery Data Center to support the Regional Health Care Provider.
The facility includes 8000 square feet of raised floor area.
The emergency electrical distribution system is supported by two (2) 1000 KVA UPS systems connected in a dual redundant configuration to provide for 1000 KVA of uninterrupted capacity to the process equipment in the raised floor area.
The electrical distribution system is backed-up by two (2) 1,500 KW diesel generators with a shared 10,000 gallon diesel storage tank.
The design incorporated emergency paralleling switchgear which allowed for the back-up power distribution to support the entire facility with N+1 redundancy.
HVAC system in the raised floor is provided through the use of air-to-air CRAC units located on the raised floor with sufficient units to provide for N+1 redundancy for the cooling system.
