My Old Kentucky Home - Federal Hill Mansion
Bardstown, Kentucky
Originally built in 1795, Federal Hill Mansion, also referred to as "My Old Kentucky Home" is a signature
piece of architecture for the state of Kentucky. In recent years the state decided to renovate this
historic building. One of the goals of the renovation was to bring the building up to current standards for
plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems. This took a great deal of unique solutions in order to maintain
the original character of the building.
Highlights of KGEI design include:
The lighting was designed to replicate the early 1800's appearance of candles. This was accomplished through the use of innovative low voltage wiring and light fixture selection.
HVAC systems were carefully integrated within the structure to minimize the appearance of a modern mechanical system.
