Jewish Hospital Medical Center Northeast
Louisville, Kentucky
Jewish Hospital Medical Center Northeast (MCNE) is scheduled to open in August of 2009, and will provide a full complement of Diagnostic, Oncology, and Emergency Care services in fast-growing Northeast Jefferson County, Kentucky. The 40-acre site was planned to allow for flexible use of the space; from doctors offices to medical Imaging, and for future expansion.
Overall, the building HVAC system is efficient and designed for long-term operational ease. However, complex areas within the building and the need to allow for future floor-plan changes demand some sophisticated elements including a Clean Room Compounding Pharmacy. Small capacity chillers and boilers were incorporated to address these needs, but only used in critical areas.
Extensive medical gas systems operate throughout the facility. The electrical design included two emergency generator systems. The utility service is designed for flexible use and occupancy to provide for variance in tenant needs now and in the future.
"Green Design" elements incorporated in the MCNE include:
Optimized building envelope.
High efficiency lighting, below IECC requirements.
Maximum use of day-lighting.
Energy recovery for ER with 50% outside air.
Variable speed HVAC system.
